Vallepicciola secures a spot in Wine Spectator’s Top 100: Chianti Classico 2021 ranks 37th globally

Castelnuovo Berardenga (SI), 19th November 2024 – For the first time, Vallepicciola entered Wine Spectator’s prestigious Top 100 list, securing the 37th position with its Chianti Classico 2021. This remarkable achievement consolidates Vallepicciola as a leading name in the global wine industry. Nestled in the hills of Siena, Vallepicciola is a young winery that distinguishes itself through the unique approach of its founders, the Bolfo family, and the creation of its “Dream Team” led by winemaker and general manager Alessandr Cellai.

This is a milestone for Vallepicciola and for Chianti Classico as a whole. Securing a spot in Wine Spectator’s Top 100 with our Chianti Classico 2021 is an extraordinary landmark and the result of a collective effort. We are a young winery, but we have proven that with dedication, vision, and respect for the land, exceptional goals can be achieved” says Alessandro Cellai.

Wine Spectator awarded Vallepicciola’s Chianti Classico 2021 a score of 92/100, with the following tasting notes: "The subtle influence of new oak accents this red's cherry, blackberry, iron, and tar flavors. Vibrant and dense, with a fresh, energetic finish, showing excellent balance."

A TRIBUTE TO TEAMWORK

In just a few years, Vallepicciola has become a benchmark in the wine industry. From the inauguration of its elegant winery in 2016, to the launch of its prestigious Grand Cru range in 2023, every milestone has been achieved through careful planning and collaborative efforts of Vallepicciola’s team, under the innovative leadership of CEO Alberto Colombo. Since 2020, winemaker and general manager Alessandro Cellai led its great team, with passion, supported by agronomist Francesco Beni, cellar master Erasmo Mazzone, and hospitality manager Tamara Marini. Each member contributes with expertise and dedication to elevating Vallepicciola to new heights and consolidating it as a globally recognized excellence.

Currently, Vallepicciola has 275 hectares, of which 107 are planted with vineyards, featuring 6 varieties of grapevines. This allows for an annual production of 500,000 bottles divided into 15 labels. In addition to the vines, this picturesque and representative winery and agricultural estate in the Chianti Classico region also produces Vin Santo, grappa, champagne, and extra virgin olive oils, thanks to the 4,000 olive trees.
