Grand Cru

Vallepicciola Red

The highest expression of the king grape variety of Chianti Classico, born from the mastery of the far-sighted oenologist, who wants to encapsulate the essence of the estate by exalting the unique character of Sangiovese.

Climatic trend

A fairly cool spring was followed by a hot and long summer, but with good temperature swings between day and night (minimum temperatures were always moderate in both July and August), allowing the grapes to complete the ripening process in an optimal manner. Also worthy of note is the absence of water stress thanks to the rains in June and September.

Harvest

Harvested by hand, selecting the best Sangiovese grapes from the Fontanelle vineyard between the second and third week of September.

Tasting Notes

Intense ruby red colour. On the nose it releases ripe cherry and redcurrant notes, chasing floral hints of violets with tobacco undertones. Elegant on the palate with a perfectly integrated tannic texture. Aftertaste with balsamic notes and very long finish.

Pairing

This sophisticated Sangiovese goes perfectly with a succulent Florentine steak. It also goes well with pappardelle al ragù, stews and braised meats.
